Overview

The Center for Emergency Preparedness is the Leader in Ohio’s Emergency Preparedness for over 35 years. Since its inception in 1984, the Center has provided outstanding education to all emergency service first responders throughout Ohio. In November 2019, the Levin College announced a strategic merging of the Center for Public and Nonprofit Management and the Center for Emergency Preparedness to better serve Ohio’s public safety training needs.

"The mission of the Center for Emergency Preparedness is to provide the highest quality hazardous material, hospital/healthcare emergency response, homeland security and business continuity training, taught by professionals utilizing industry standards and best practices."

Description

In 2010, the Center adopted the Hazardous Materials curriculum from the Ohio Fire Academy and the Ohio Department of Public Safety, thus providing consistency in our instructional material(s) and program delivery. The Center takes an active role with all levels of government and educational institutions by preparing first responders for all hazards.

Our course offerings include: Hazardous Materials (Haz Mat), Permit Required Confined Space Entry and Rescue (CSE & CSR), National Incident Management System (NIMS), Business Continuity and Emergency Planning, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Hospital Healthcare Emergency Response Training (HERT), and various specialty courses. Most courses are offered through the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Hazardous Materials Training Grant. Therefore, the offerings shown in the catalog represent only a small portion of the Center’s overall programming.
