WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP SERIES
The Women's Leadership Series (Women Empowering Women) officially launched in October 2018 under CPNM and the Ohio Center for the Advancement of Women in Public Service.

After serving in the Ohio Senate for over 16 years, Senator Grace L. Drake founded the
Ohio Center for the Advancement of Women in Public Service in 2001 at the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs. Senator Drake established the Center in hopes of inspiring more women to pursue public sector careers.

The Women's Leadership Series - Women Empowering Women - was created to engage and empower public & nonprofit sector leaders throughout Northeast Ohio, while promoting the concept of gender representation at all levels of leadership. The theme - "Women Empowering Women"- hones in on the notion that women should support, empower, and mentor one another. The series' programming is strategically designed to capitalize on this theme of empowerment within sectors where political pressures are at play, resources remain tight, and the competition to rise to executive leadership endures.

Thank you to everyone who attended our networking events in October & December, and our
"Courageous Conversations" event in March.

We look forward to seeing all of our participants at our upcoming Speed Networking event on May, 21st!

EVENT RECAP: #ELGLINSPIRE
In an effort to bring the community to the classroom, introduce students to the endless possibilities of local government, and keep up with the latest trends in the public sector, the Center hosted a national event, #ELGLInspire, on March 1st at the Levin College. Cleveland State University was the first university in Ohio to hold a #ELGLInspire event, which drew over 100 students, staff, alumni, and local government professionals.

#ELGLInspire is a new, national program "designed to introduce students to the variety and impact of a local government career." The event introduced local government career paths, connected students to regional public sector leaders, and provided the next generation of leaders with tools to seek internships and careers in local government. The event also featured networking opportunities, a panel discussion comprised of local government professionals, roundtable discussions, sessions on internship and job search best practices, and more.

Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) strives to inspire, develop, and support the next generation of local government leaders.
