Dr. Nicholas C. Zingale Performs Human-Centered Convergent Research for the Human Fusions Institute
This year, Dr. Nicholas C. Zingale, Associate Professor at Levin and Director of the Institute of Applied Phenomenology in Science and Technology, continues his work on human-centered convergent research at the Human Fusions Institute (HFI), focusing on the human and society dimension through “HELPPS” – human, ethical, legal, phenomenological, psychological, and social impacts. The Human Fusions Institute was founded and is led by Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and the Cleveland Veterans Association Medical Center. Cleveland State University is one of five founding partner institutions instrumental in defining and starting Human Fusions and NeuroReality™. Dr. Zingale is an expert in phenomenology (the study of the development of the human consciousness and self-awareness), urban development, and technology access. He and his team at HFI are leading efforts to understand how we experience ourselves, others, and our world through an embodied, NeuroReality™ experience, as well as the ethics and implications of "Human Fusions," which connects the human brain, technology, and society through neural interfaces, enabling the human mind to transcend the barriers of the body. The HFI was recently recognized by News 5 Cleveland, in their article, “New CWRU Technology Lets You Feel Something Thousands of Miles Away.” This video, “NeuroReality™ — The Future of Telepresence,” presented by CWRU, provides additional insight on the future of the human-tech relationship and how NeuroReality™ can lead to a thriving, just, and connected world. Patrick Mohorcic, a student in Levin’s Master of Public Administration program and Director of Workforce Development at the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, was selected for Crain’s Cleveland’s “Twenty in their 20s,” a program that celebrates Cleveland’s rising leaders. Mohorcic, 24, was the second-youngest honoree in 2020. “My job is to help others,” said Mohorcic, who was also selected as the Ohio Economic Development Association’s “Economic Development Rookie of the Year” in 2019. “It’s inspiring to get up every day and make the world a better place. Meet John Bausone
Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership, 2019
Real Estate Broker, Coldwell Banker King
“My experience at Levin was all positive. The professors engaged and challenged me throughout my time at CSU. Additionally, I was able to build relationships and network with my peers and colleagues.”
Meet John Bausone, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Levin in 2019. John shared that prior to attending Levin, most of his professional career was spent in restaurant operations management. He chose Levin because he was interested in urban planning and real estate development, and he appreciated the convenience of being able to complete some of the coursework online and easily transfer credits from Cuyahoga Community College. John now serves as a Real Estate Broker for Coldwell Banker King, where he arranges and negotiates real estate transactions and markets properties for clients. John noted that he is passionate about creating sustainable, livable cities; an advocate for reliable public transit that meets the needs of all residents; and a proponent of increasing affordable workforce housing. In addition to his role as a Real Estate Broker, John is involved in numerous voluntary experiences, sitting on the Multimodal Transportation Commission for the City of Asheville and recently serving on the Board of Directors for Northeast Shores Development Corporation in the Northshore Collinwood neighborhood in Cleveland.

The ability to form and hold meaningful, inclusive, and diverse associations and relationships is a skill that has increased exponentially in value. While the racial and civil unrest of 2020 strongly highlighted the value of diversified social capital, many people (as well as organizations) realized this part of their skillset was underperforming, or worse, nonexistent. In this course, Jejuana C. Brown, a Certified Diversity Professional, shares how to diversify your social capital portfolio through allyship and by amplifying equity and inclusion in your personal and professional relationships.

The Public Management Academy (PMA) is a comprehensive professional development certificate program for public managers. PMA is delivered over the course of one year and includes nineteen customized workshops designed to enhance the skill sets and productivity of public sector employees. Each workshop provides tools and techniques that can be applied directly to work functions and showcases best practices in the field. Participants demonstrate learning by developing and implementing special projects that directly address agency and regional needs while providing innovative solutions to contemporary issues. The project methodology transforms the workplace into a real-life laboratory, integrating theory and practice, and the project outcomes deliver return on the investment for both the sponsoring organization and participants through measurable results.
