Citizen,
Worker and Leader surveys for the City of Cleveland show strong
support for waterfront park improvement and funding, as well as a
desire to make the lakefront an important Cleveland asset. Phase I
outlines the formation of a nonprofit organization for the City of
Cleveland waterfront which will serve as an engine for waterfront
park revitalization and as a centralized active fundraising
resource. An examination of current ownership, park funding and
capital projects along the Cleveland waterfront is also included in
the basis for study. Phase II details how the Cleveland Waterfront
Partnership will work to implement operational transition of the
natural lakefront parks from the State of Ohio to the Cleveland
Metroparks. It also suggests supporting the downtown Voinovich and
North Coast parks through the oversight and operation of the
Downtown Cleveland Alliance and Park Works. Phase III concludes the
vision of the Cleveland Waterfront Partnership with a plan for
creating a fully functioning, well staffed, nonprofit 501(c)3
corporation, which serves as the leading advocate for the Cleveland
lakefront.
