What
is the Lower Big Creek Valley?
The Lower
Big Creek Valley is located on the Westside of Cleveland in the
Old Brooklyn neighborhood. It stretches from the Cleveland Metroparks
Zoo on the West, to the Cuyahoga River to the East. The Big Creek
as well as two railroad tracks run through this valley.
Why
redevelop the Lower Big Creek Valley?
Given
it's position, The Lower Big Creek Valley allows a unique opportunity
to expand the Towpath Trail system to the Cleveland Metroparks
Zoo, as well as create more recreation opportunites for neighborhood
residents.
What
is the Towpath Trail System?
The Towpath
Trail follows the route of the Ohio & Erie Canal. This multi-purpose
trail was developed by the National Park Service and goes through
The Cuyahoga Valley National Park. You can make connections to
many of the natural and recreational sites in the park. A map

What
is the current condition of The Lower Big Creek Valley?
Currently,
the valley is populated by variuos light industrial businesses.
These businesses range from a salvage yard to a truck depot. It
is not currently pedestrian friendly and there are several brownfield
sites.
